Rob Glaser
Rob Glaser has been active in the software industry as an entrepreneur, executive, and investor for nearly 30 years. At Accel Partners he focuses on digital media technology, social media, and mobile services.

Rob is currently Chairman of RealNetworks, which he founded in 1994. In addition to his role as Chairman, Rob served as Real’s CEO from February 1994 until January 2010, leading the company from scratch to over $500 Million in revenue. In 1995, Real introduced the groundbreaking RealAudio which created the market for real-time streaming of audio. Over the succeeding 15 years, Real has continued to innovate in Internet digital entertainment. Real (Nasdaq: RNWK) was funded by Accel Partners in 1995 and went public in 1997.

Prior to founding RealNetworks, Rob worked for Microsoft for 10 years in a number of executive positions, including Vice President of Multimedia and Consumer Systems. Before joining Microsoft, Rob founded his first company, Ivy Research, in 1981 to make games for the newly launched IBM PC. Rob has also been an early stage investor in several successful technology companies including TellMe, PlanetOut, and SmileBox.

In addition to his commercial activities, Rob has been active in community and civic work. In 1993, Rob founded The Glaser Progress Foundation (www.glaserprogress.org), focused on 4 program areas: Measuring Progress, Animal Advocacy, Independent Media, and Treatment and Prevention of Global HIV/AIDS. Mr. Glaser has also served on several non-profit boards and committees, including his appointment by President Clinton to the Advisory Committee on Public Interest Obligations of Digital Television Broadcasters. Mr. Glaser currently serves on the Yale University Council, and is President of the RealNetworks Foundation.

Mr. Glaser is a 1983 graduate of Yale University, with a B.A. and M.A. in Economics and a B.S. in Computer Science. He lives in Seattle with his wife and their 3 ½ year old twins.
