Paul Wahl
Paul Wahl has been an active member of the enterprise software community for more than 30 years. Beginning his career as a self-taught Mainframe Software Engineer at Burro, Paul rose to senior executive & board directorships in product, marketing, and operations across a number of the leading business software companies including SAP (NYSE: SAP), Siebel Systems (acquired by Oracle), Lawson Software (NASDAQ: LWSN), and most recently Qlik Technologies (NASDAQ: QLIK).
Paul joined SAP in 1992, where he was responsible for product leadership in R/3, the company’s flagship ERP suite used to manage core processes such as billing, order fulfilment, and human resources. In 1996, he was appointed to the company’s Board of Directors, and took on the role of CEO SAP Americas, which he grew into its most profitable division across North, South, and Central America. In 1998, Paul joined Siebel Systems as President & COO, where for five years he spearheaded the company’s internationalization efforts and multi-channel CRM product offering.
Paul first teamed up with Accel shortly after its 2004 investment in Qlik Technologies as a non-executive member of the Board of Directors. At Qliktech, Paul utilized his deep understanding of enterprise IT, and focused intensively on product user experience & customer acquisition to help the company build a high-velocity sales model. In 2009, he joined Accel on the Board of then recently seeded Causata, a next-generation enterprise platform for managing real-time multi-channel customer interactions.
As CEO in Residence based in Accel’s London Office, Paul helps to identify infrastructure software investments with an aim to either start a new business or join an early stage company with a strong team in a sector of interest. Strategically, his focus is on products that deliver real-time insight and agility while reducing dependency on highly trained IT teams. Paul is extremely interested in exploring ways to design and deliver systems software that are far easier to install and operate, and deliver much faster time to value for end users.
Education
Paul attended Kaufmaennische Berufsschule in Ulm, Germany, where he studied Business Administration.
