Each month, hundreds of thousands of users raise funding on GoFundMe: teachers receiving contributions for class supplies; friends and family helping loved ones pay hospital bills; entrepreneurs earning support to get new products off the ground. With simple sharing and content management tools, fundraisers can broadcast campaign goals and stories to their donors.
Brad Damphousse and Andy Ballester bootstrapped GoFundMe for five years before Accel led the company’s first-ever outside investment in June 2015, when Accel’s John Locke joined the company’s board of directors. Accel helped recruit a strong management team led by Rob Solomon (former Groupon president and Accel venture partner) and David Hahn (former Linkedin VP of product). The company continues to grow, raising more money for thousands of causes, and opened a new office in the Bay Area.
