Aimee Black

Aimee joined Accel in 2024 and focuses on developing the firms investor relationships. Prior to joining Accel, Aimee held positions in Investor Relations and Fund Operations within the venture capital industry. Aimee is from New Zealand and graduated from The University of Otago.

Get to know Aimee

What was your first job?

My first job was at a pharmacy and gift store in New Zealand, where I worked the register and wrapped packages starting at 13. During university, I also spent a summer on a landscaping crew, an experience that taught me firsthand what hard work really means!

What's the most impactful piece of advice you've received?

During a challenging project early in my career, a friend gave the tough (but wise) advice that "nobody will do it for you." I've come to lean on this advice in different ways: to do the work right (without shortcuts), to be my own advocate, and to make sure I'm as supportive to my team as possible.

What would you do with an hour of unexpected free time?

I would unwind with a bike ride or a swim. An hour could get me to Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands, or to a pool for a decent swim. Both are activities I love, but wish I could do more!
